My skincare routine is more than necessary now that I’m getting older. And as women, it’s common to associate our youth with our facial appearance. If someone had a magic pill or a facial cream that can turn back time, well let’s just say they hit the jackpot.
Remembering myself as a young teenager I had this one red zit on my nose. It hurt to the touch and was so obviously large. Personally I felt like I had two noses. Hiding it took great skill, but I had to stop and really learn about my skin.
After my scary acne period in high school, I made it a priority to take care of my skin. I have combination skin, and now I’m noticing more dry spots. As you get older you lose your elasticity and moisture. We all experience different skin issues, do some research on what your skin type for recommended products. A skin regimen is important to put your best healthy face forward.
Along with having drier skin, I’ve noticed that the skin flaking is more apparent. My skin is turning over and producing new skin, which happens normally with all of us. You might notice this on the apples of your cheek and chin.
The areas where I produce too much oil is my nose and forehead, but still the flakiness again. All of the oil and skin build-up can show the appearance of clogged pores. Nothing fun about having a strawberry skin nose, eek It’s best to rid them regularly to minimize your pores, tightening of the skin.
So if you want to know what products I use to keep up with my skin daily check out my list. You know I’m frugal so all these items are inexpensive and you can get at any drugstore. The best thing about it is they all work! And I have my skin glowing, and wrinkles are fighting to show!
These are the items I use to wash my face every day. When I pick out my cleanser I prefer if most of the ingredients are natural and cruelty-free. I believe that using natural ingredients for cleansing helps keep more moisture in the skin. Not stripping away the skin’s natural way of developing new cells.
Typically I wash my face prior to doing anything in the morning. It’s the quickest “wake me up tip” to jump-start my day. Fruit scented cleansers are most invigorating as it gives you a fresh feeling. Me and St. Ives go way back! I’ve been a fan of St. Ives products for the last two decades. It all started with the facial scrub. The cost was low, fitting in my budget, and did the job.
Just when I thought they were going to stick to the original, they just reinvented themselves with a new fresh colorful look. The first new product I saw was their stick cleaners (haven’t tried it myself), but it definitely seems less wasteful. I’ve enjoyed trying The fresh watermelon daily cleanser. It leaves my skin soft and clean, plus it smells delicious!
My clay mask is not daily but usually once a week. I love this one because it cleans out my pore deep and helps minimize them. Since I wear makeup most of the time, I like to do a deep clean to get out all the impurities. This mask also helps clarify my complexion, since I have two-toned skin, this is perfect for me. Both my forehead and chin is slightly darker than the rest of my face.
Getting Rid of Dead Skin
You’ve already heard my ravings about this product earlier. You can’t go wrong with an original. Even my mother now in her 60’s has used this product, it’s the best facial scrub ever. Where you can actually feel the grit rolling over your face as you scrub in a circular motion. There is no doubt that dead skin is coming off.
Ever since learning this technique in an article, I read about what models do to have youthful skin. Dry Brushing is not a pleasurable experience, it is slightly painful but my skin turnover is great. Also without all the dead skin on top, I feel like moisturizer is better absorbed and getting its nutrients. The bristle also helps massage my skin and get the blood flowing. It wouldn’t be honest if I didn’t tell you, that I dry brush both my face and body. Since the skin can feel a little raw and sensitive later, I don’t recommend using toner on the days you dry brush. Anything with alcohol or acidity will have a burning sensation.
Most of the uses for an astringent are to clarify the skin and help tone it’s complexion. I get rid of dead skin as well and clear out pores dirt and oil. Just when you think a cleanser is just enough, try rubbing this on your skin after. Amazement as you see that there’s still dirt trapped in deep. The evidence is on the cotton ball, lol. I don’t put this all over the face just on my forehead, nose, and chin. Some might call this the T-zone area, its where my skin produces the most oil.
Moisturing my Skin (Anti-Aging)
I picked up this cream when I was short on cash but desperately needed a skin moisturizer. Surprisingly my skin felt soft and the consistency was not too thick. Mainly I put it around my eyes, and it soaks it all up. Circling around the whole halo around my eye, especially where the crows’ feet is. When I put on my concealer it doesn’t make it look cakey and my skin looks smooth. So it’s a win-win for me.
One of my favorite anti-aging skin cream. After putting this on my skin just glows, and looks so young. I told my friend to grab it and she loved it as well. If or when I decide to not wear makeup for the day, this is the only cream I can wear that makes my skin look flawless. I don’t know why this is not in every store but it’s difficult to find sometimes. Luckily I was able to pick one up at Walmart one time. A small drop goes a long way but I put this cream everywhere. Even on my neck, under my chin and the backs of my hands. The best part is that you don’t have to pay 100’s of dollars for this, it ranges from $15 to 20$ usually.
Well, that’s the end of my list of daily skincare products. I’ve been holding true to these until I find something new. So far I’m pleased with how my skin looks and feels. On a really rough day, I like to treat myself to a facial mask as well. If you don’t have the time to shop in the stores, you can click on the image or links to make an online purchase. The main focus on my website is that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to enjoy things in life. Beauty products sometimes have a hefty price tag but there is a lot of cheaper products you can use with the same ingredients. All of these products I’ve used for several years, so its all based on my skin type and experience.
